Message from Middle High School Principal

On behalf of the middle/high school staff at Ajial Bilingual School, I welcome you to the 2016/17 school year. Ajial is entering its ninth year as an educational institution, preparing our middle/high school students to be life- long learning, with constant inquiring minds, ready to tackle the challenges of the 21st century.

Our highly qualified, caring staff will deliver a comprehensive American style curriculum that prepares our middle/high school students to be life- long learners, with inquiring minds, ready to tackle the challenges of the 21st century. They will provide students with the guidance and necessary life skills to reach their future life and career goals.

A few changes will take place this year with the introduction of the social/emotional learning program in the middle school as well as the start of the homeroom programs.  In addition, this year, the students will be moving from class to class, meeting each teacher in their assigned classrooms.  Wi-Fi has been installed in the high school to initiate the “Bring Your Own Device” program (BYOD) which will begin in October.

Communication between parents and school will also become more efficient with the initiation of the Parent Portal and the introduction of Office 365.  Parents, students and teacher will have immediate contact with each other, regarding student classwork, assignments and progress.  To better document our students’ success, student will be creating digital portfolios, a digital means to store assignments, tests, projects and a means for students to reflect on the current year’s work.  The portfolio will follow the student through their years at Ajial document their educational growth and experiences.

Middle School Social Studies has been added to the middle school curriculum.  Students will have two classes per week.  The program will follow the American Common Core Standards and will be taught by the Social Studies teachers.

Student handbooks will be reviewed in homeroom classes.

Please take time to review this important book with your child, and sign the back page to return to school.  It is important to have parent support and understanding of policies and procedures regarding the operation of middle and high school.

If you have any concerns regarding your child, please do not hesitate to make an appointment with the school secretary,   “Working together we can achieve greatness”.

Robin Chamney,

Middle/ High School Principal
